Dhoni thanked the Eden Gardens’ crowd, but spits nothing on retirement

Afer defeating KKR, Mahendra Singh Dhoni thanked the fans at Eden Gardens for the support. The Chennai Super Kings captain was happy to see thousands of people wearing Chennai jerseys in the gallery.

After the match, Dhoni said,

 “I will just say thanks for the support, they came in big numbers. Most of these guys will come in a KKR jersey next time. They are trying to give me a farewell, so thanks a lot to the crowd.”

Dhoni, while talking about his retirement, however did not comment on whether he had played his last match at Eden Gardens.

Dhoni credits the bowlers for the win against Kolkata. The Chennai skipper said,

“Fast bowlers are doing their job, and so are spinners in the middle. The wicket was short on one side so we needed to get early wickets and keep the pressure. They have plenty of power hitters, so we had to give respect to the opposition.”

Dhoni has also shared with cricket lovers the technique of getting the best out of his teammates.

Moreover he also discussed about the injuries his team is going through, right now. Several big names like Ben Stokes and Deepak Chahar is suffering from injuries. Regarding that, Dhoni said,

“I have a clear funda, if someone is injured he can’t do anything. You just move on and motivate the youngsters to perform. We have been fortunate that all the guys coming in are performing.”

Chennai skipper happy with Ajinkya Rahane’s form as well. The Mumbai bases batter has hit a rampant 71 run innings of just 29 balls. On Rahane, Dhoni said,

“We realise the potential of someone when we allow him to bat the way he bats. We give him freedom, give him the best position. In a team environment, someone has to sacrifice his slot to allow the others to get more comfortable, and allow the team to succeed.”
