As a result, CSK now shares the record for the most successful team in the IPL’s 16-season history alongside the Mumbai Indians. In the aftermath of this victory, reports have emerged indicating that MS Dhoni is likely to undergo a series of tests to assess his knee injury. Throughout the IPL, there were numerous reports highlighting the 41-year-old’s struggle with a knee ailment while playing matches. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming acknowledged Dhoni’s knee injury during a press conference, confirming the presence of the ailment.

Observations of MS Dhoni occasionally limping further added to the speculation surrounding his knee condition. A photograph of him wearing a kneecap during CSK’s lap of honor at the MA Chidambaram Stadium also went viral. According to reports from Revsportz, the former Indian skipper is expected to be admitted to Mumbai’s renowned Kokilaben hospital this week for tests to determine the severity of his knee injury.

The decision to undergo these tests aims to provide a clearer understanding of the extent of Dhoni’s knee injury and assist in devising an appropriate course of treatment.

Dhoni’s retirement was a prominent topic during IPL 2023 due to his career stage. In a post-match interview, Harsha Bhogle asked about Dhoni’s potential return for IPL 2024. To which Dhoni responded that it would depend on his body and fitness at that time.

“Looking for an answer? Circumstantially if you see this is the best time for me to announce retirement. But the amount of love and affection that I have been shown, wherever I have been this year…I think the easy thing for me to say would be to say ‘Thank you very much’, but the tough thing for me would be to work hard for nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL. But a lot depends on the body,”

Dhoni said.
