Dhruv Jurel in complete awe of MS Dhoni and meets him after match

KS Bharat

Rajasthan Royals’ young batter, Dhruv Jurel has recently described his meeting with former India skipper, MS Dhoni.

Currently, Dhoni is leading the Chennai Super Kings and has always been an inspiration for many young talents around the globe.

Before Jurel, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal back in 2021 who greeted Dhoni with folded hands out of sheer respect for the latter.

Now, Jurel was the lucky one to meet his idol in the IPL and described the feeling as ‘surreal’ for him. Additionally, he has also stated that he was in complete awe of MSD for the first five minutes.

On the other hand, Jurel made his debut against the Punjab Kings at Guwahati and has so far scored 62 runs in the tournament with a massive strike rate of 182.35.

Importantly, he has provided stability to RR’s middle order because Riyan Parag and Devdutt Paddikal are struggling to find form.

Jurel gives a detailed account of his meeting with MS Dhoni

Meanwhile, Jurel has given a very detailed account of his first meeting with MS Dhoni and how he struck up a conversation with the CSK skipper.

Says Jurel,

It was surreal to meet players grew up admiring. When saw Mahi Bhai for the first time, stood at a distance & stared at him for 5 minutes. I thought, ‘Bas mehnat karni hai, waha tak pohchna hai.

Adding further, he says,

In our last match, I shared the field with my idol, MS Dhoni, for the first time. That day, I thought, ‘Nothing’s impossible.’

Says Jurel further,

But nothing tops the last match. Not only did I share a field with Mahi Bhai, but I also spoke to him! When I asked him how he always stays calm, he said, ‘As a finisher, you only get 1-2 overs to make your mark. Just believe in yourself & start hitting.’ Now, that’s what I plan to do, so I can get where he is…After all, nothing’s impossible!

Rajasthan Royals’ next game is at home in Jaipur against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on the 19th of April.
