Dilhara Fernando believes Bumrah is and will be a game-changer for India

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian fast bowler, has been out of action due to a back injury and has not played any competitive cricket since September 2022. As he is still in rehabilitation, he is expected to miss several upcoming international events including the World Test Championship (WTC) final, the ODI World Cup, and the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a recent interview with TimesofIndia.com, former Sri Lankan pacer Dilhara Fernando expressed that India and Rohit Sharma will require the service of Bumrah desperately. According to him, the 29-year-old fast bowler is a game-changer and can be the key player for the hosts in the 50-over World Cup.

“Bumrah is just amazing. If you look at India’s performance in the last five years, Bumrah has played a very big role. He has been leading the pace attack really well. He is a game-changer. I am not sure about his injury updates, but he will be a key player for India in the World Cup. Rohit will need him in the World Cup. India and Rohit will really need him in the World Cup,”

Dilhara Fernando said.

“Bumrah in Indian conditions is at another level. He is a nightmare for the opposition. India’s pace attack looks good, and India are top contenders at the World Cup,”

Fernando further added.

Bumrah will be key for India as well as for Rohit: Dilhara Fernando

Dilhara Fernando, the former Sri Lankan cricketer, thinks that Bumrah and Rohit have a great camaraderie on the pitch, as they represent Mumbai Indians (MI) together. According to the 43-year-old, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has played a significant role in Bumrah’s progress. However, Fernando believes that the pacer would be vital to the national team’s success and the captain’s performance.

“Bumrah and Rohit know each other closely and have good camaraderie so Rohit would want Bumrah badly in the World Cup. IPL and Mumbai Indians have played a big role in Bumrah’s career. Rohit and Bumrah have a good mutual understanding, especially in tough conditions. Bumrah will be key for India and Rohit,”

Fernando mentioned.
