Dinesh Karthik lauds Ishan Kishan’s double hundred against Bangladesh

Dinesh Karthik - Kolkata Knight Riders - KKR

In today’s third ODI, India made a massive 409/8 in their 50 overs and asked Bangladesh to chase down 410.

This huge score was all thanks to Ishan Kishan’s double hundred and Virat Kohli’s ton. India went on to win the game by a huge margin of 227 runs.

Kishan came in to open the innings in the absence of Rohit Sharma who got injured in the second ODI.

After his magnificent knock, Kishan got accolades from the Indian cricket fraternity. Kishan’s knock included 24 fours and 10 sixes.

He has also broken the record of West Indies’ Chris Gayle who had up till now the record of the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket.

Karthik now feels that the Indian team management will now be left scratching their heads as regards the opening combination in ODIs.

Karthik appreciates Ishan Kishan’s knock against Bangladesh

Says Karthik,

It was beautiful to watch the way Ishan paced his innings after the first five overs. The kind of shots he played, he took on bowlers consistently. The beauty about 200 was the strike rate; at 160, scoring a double hundred is special effort. He batted beautifully, the last 100 coming off 41 balls says a lot. That’s the skill, that’s why he has been picked by Mumbai Indians at such a high price.

Adding further, he says,

He’s somebody who is going to deliver. This, in many ways, puts the cat among the pigeons when it comes to openers.

Apart from Kishan, other Indian batters who have reached the 200-run mark are skipper Rohit Sharma who has reached the target thrice with a high score of 264.

Even Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag have managed to make scores of 200 in ODI cricket.

Kishan is now the fourth Indian batter to have achieved this record for India.
