England Cricket Team - ECB

Ben Stokes led England to be inching closer to a test series win over Pakistan after a complete dominance on Day 2 of the second test match.

After an inspiring win in the first test match, England landed in Multan for the second game. Their marquee player, Mark Wood, made his return for this game. Pakistan, on the other hand, read the wicket well and brought in an extra spinner. The debutant spinner, Abrar Ahmed, wreaked havoc among the visitors. He clipped 7 wickets in the first innings on his first day of the debut.

England could manage 281 runs in the first innings. However, the visitors got back up really quickly with the ball. Leach and Anderson got rid of the openers really quickly. Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel built a good partnership in the middle but eventually fell to good deliveries. The rest of the batting order quickly fell apart. Pakistan was bundled before the end of Day 2.

Jack Leach clips his 100th test wicket for England

England senior spinner Jack Leach dismantled Pakistan’s top order with a fiery performance. The surface suited him and he cliched his 100th test wicket for England. Leach is only the 14th England player to achieve this feat. Jack Leach finished off with 4 wickets while Mark Wood and Joe Root clipped 2 wickets each.

Meanwhile, England is placed in the driver’s seat as they finished Day 2 of the test match with a lead of 281 owing to Harry Brook’s steady innings of 79 runs. Despite losing five wickets, they can put up a good score on day three with a few quick runs. Certainly, the visitors are favorites for the win. The game is unlikely to last for the whole 5 days, and we are certainly in for a test game with a fruitful result.
