Aaron Finch, Australia’s white-ball captain said in a recent interview that the team is pretty confident of defending their crown at home this year.

He also told that it will be his biggest pleasure and happiness to play in front of his home crowd as the audience has been pretty supportive of their team in all the major tournaments.

Australia got a lot of home support during the 2015 ICC World Cup as well the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020.

Australia defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final of last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and clinched their first-ever title.

It is also Australia’s first time hosting the marquee event. The venues for the World Cup are Adelaide, Geelong, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

The first round will start off with West Indies and Sri Lanka will play matches at Geelong and Hobart, after which Australia will start their campaign against New Zealand and it will be just like 2021 final. The match will take place on October 22.

SCG will host the match between last year’s finalists.
