Shivam Mavi made his debut for India in the first T20 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. The fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh had a dream debut, picking 4-22 at the Wankhede Stadium. Mavi was the leader of the pack during the U-19 World Cup of 2018, which consisted of players like Prithvi Shaw, Arshdeep Singh, and Shubhman Gill.

Shivam Mavi was destined for great things after an impressive U-19 World Cup, but injuries made him stay on the sidelines and away from the game. But he kept working hard on his fitness and rhythm and this is now reaping the reward for the young pacer.

Mavi Speaks

Shivam Mavi shared his thoughts about his debut and the early struggles in his career.

“Was waiting for six years after playing U19. Had to work hard in those six years – got injured as well. For a while it looked like my dream will remain a dream. But I kept at it. Having played the IPL, the nervousness is a little less. My idea in the powerplay is to attack and get them out. Favorite dismissal was the first one, getting him bowled,”

Mavi said after a tremendous performance on his debut.
