Former legends discuss their greatest player in the IPL

Former IPL players like Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Robin Uthappa, Anil Kumble, Parthiv Patel, and Scott Styris feature in a show named “Legends Lounge” on JioCinema Channel as they discussed the greatest IPL player of all time. 

There is an endless debate amongst the fans about who is the best player in the hisotry of the Indian Premier League. In one of the recent episodes, the players were discussing their all-time greatest player in the IPL. 

Gayle answers his all-time greatest IPL player

Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle answered in his own typical way. The ‘Universe Boss’ said that without any doubt, he is the best player of the Indian Premeir League (IPL). 

“Come on, of course it’s me. Anyone object, put two boxing gloves down and I can punch it out!,” he said.

Who was Styris’ and Kumble’s greatest IPL Player?

Then it was the turn of Former Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble to answer. He told that it was Suresh Raina who is the greatest player in the IPL. Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris agreed to it and further addeed that Raina’s match winning ability made him a special player. 

“Your match-winning ability and the way you’ve led CSK, I think it’s a pretty easy decision,” Styris said.

The pannel further discussed about Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan. However Raina was the eventual winner due to his consistency. 

Experts name the best overseas player and bowler 

The experts also named Rashid Khan and Sunil Narine as the best overseas player to play in the IPL. Speaking about the greatest IPL bowler, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, and Yuzvendra Chahal were the probable candidates.

But Gayle put an end to the discussion declaring Bumrah as the greatest bowler to have played in the IPL.

“Bumrah absolutely. I am not gonna pick an off-spinner like Bhajji or Ashwin, but definitely Bumrah. You just can’t seem to get him. Difficult to play his slow ball, his variations are very, very unique. I pick Bumrah.”
