Sunil Gavaskar has said that Arshdeep Singh can have a transition in international cricket just like Jasprit Bumrah. He has identified Bumrah-like qualities in Arshdeep Singh and has backed the pacer to succeed in international cricket in all formats.

India has got an incredible pool of young fast bowlers including Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, and Shivam Mavi, but Bumrah is far apart from these fast bowlers.

But Gavaskar feels that Arshdeep has a great mentality and can swing the ball both ways. He has a great yorker and also said that Bumrah initially started as a white ball cricketer and then transitioned into an all-format bowler.

Gavaskar calls Arshdeep as the next big thing

“He has got a very good bouncer and bowls a great yorker as well. He certainly is a prospect, a big prospect… even for red-ball cricket because if he can get the white ball to swing so much, imagine what he will do with the red ball. And of course, he also brings a left-handed dimension to any attack. He’s got pace and can get the ball to move so. Just like Jasprit Bumrah started off with the white-ball and went on to become such an effective, top-class Test match bowler, Arshdeep Singh is someone to keep an eye on,” Gavaskar said during the 2nd ODI between India and New Zealand.
