Former Australia pacer, Glenn McGrath has recently talked about India pacer, Jasprit Bumrah and has also given some tips for him on how he can prolong his career.
Moreover, Bumrah has had a bad 2022 and 2023 as his career was full of injuries as a result of which he missed many major tournaments for the national side.
Some of these tournaments include the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Asia Cup 2022, and even this year’s IPL.
Additionally, he endured a lower back stress fracture that took a long time to heal. He had got the surgery done in New Zealand for the same.
But now, Bumrah is back in business and the BCCI has decided to include him in the 3-match T20I series against Ireland that will start on the 18th of August.
Furthermore, he will be leading the side in this series in Ireland as well as has been stated previously.
Meanwhile, Glenn McGrath has said that Bumrah is an excellent bowler but his bowling action is what proves dangerous for his body.
Bumrah is exceptional, and he is unique. The way he bowls, his run-up, and his delivery stride are very unique. But his bowling action and the way he goes about it does put a lot of stress on his body, so he needs to stay strong. If he does that, he can play quite a few years for India.
McGrath says that today’s modern-day schedule hard for bowlers like Bumrah
On the other hand, McGrath also opined that today’s cricket is very tough and punishing on the bodies of bowlers like Bumrah.
That is why they cannot play well in all of the three formats. He also says that modern-day cricket has made the schedules of players very hectic which leads to a lot of injuries.
The current international schedule, the IPL and other T20 tournaments makes it harder for fast bowlers like Bumrah to play in all three formats but some bowlers can do it.
