Gujarat franchise reveals its name as Gujarat Titans

On Wednesday, CVC Capital announced the name of their franchise as Gujarat Titans.

They are the second new franchise in this year’s IPL and were acquired by CVC Capital last October.

They already have 3 players on their roster who are Hardik Pandya (captain), Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan.

For all three players, this is only their second IPL team as they were the long-serving players of their previous franchises, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Titans home ground will be the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad which is the world’s largest stadium.

It will also be the first time for Hardik Pandya to lead an IPL team.

Ashish Nehra, Gary Kirsten and Vikram Solanki will form the core of the coaching staff. All three have previously worked together for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Siddharth Patel in his press release on Wednesday talked about the team and how they will approach the upcoming auctions.

We want this group to achieve great things for Gujarat and its many passionate fans, which is why we have chosen the name, Titans.

As we approach the league’s Mega Auction, we are confident that we will be able to put together the right combination of players going into the new season. We want individuals that not only highly skilled but also who are inspired to be Titans of the game.

Titans have a total amount of INR 52 crore with them for the auction. They have already spent INR 38 crore on their 3 players.
