In the Qualifier 2 match of the ongoing IPL 2023, the Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, clashed with the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday, May 26. Gujarat emerged victorious, securing a place in their second IPL final in two years with a commanding 62-run win. Opting to bat first, Gujarat Titans posted a massive total of 233 runs on the scoreboard, largely propelled by an exceptional innings from Indian batsman Shubman Gill.

Gill, aged 23, showcased his brilliance by smashing his third century of the IPL 2023. He accumulated an impressive 129 runs off just 60 deliveries. As Gill’s remarkable knock garnered widespread attention, Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, praised his consistent century-scoring ability, remarking that Gill made it seem as effortless as having breakfast.

“He’s making a habit of scoring hundred, and he’s making it look like it’s just breakfast for him. What I saw today was one of the finest I have ever seen. Every time we saw that 55 balls, we were like, that’s a hell of a shot. Very very very proud of him, I get scared seeing him bat that much,”

Gujarat Titans aim to defend IPL title against Chennai Super Kings

Following their 62-run victory against Mumbai in Qualifier 2, Gujarat secured a spot in the IPL 2023 summit clash. On Sunday, May 28, they will face the formidable Chennai Super Kings, who have clinched the title four times before. The highly-anticipated final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where both teams previously met in Qualifier 1. In that match on May 23, led by MS Dhoni, Chennai triumphed by 15 runs. They were the first team to secure a spot in the IPL 2023 final. Furthermore, now Gujarat seeks redemption and a chance to claim the coveted championship title.
