Following the conclusion of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Australian paceman Josh Hazlewood commended his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate Mohammed Siraj for his impressive performances in the tournament. Siraj will participate in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London, which will commence on June 7. It is noteworthy that India had previously suffered defeat against New Zealand in the inaugural WTC final in 2021. The Indian team is determined to claim the Test mace in their second consecutive summit clash, while Australia eagerly anticipates their debut appearance in the final.

Josh Hazlewood showered accolades on Siraj, expressing admiration for his exceptional bowling skills and impressive control. The Australian bowler emphasized that Siraj’s performance met the criteria and requirements of every statistical aspect relevant to a bowler’s performance.

Hazlewood is fit for WTC final

I was a bit late getting there (to RCB this year), but before then he was on fire. His control was great and he is bowling well,”

Hazlewood said.

“He is up there at the top of the wickets every time. And the economy rate at Chinnaswamy (RCB’s home ground) is impossible sometimes. And he was going at six or six-and-a-half an over,”

Hazlewood further added.

Siraj concluded his IPL 2023 journey with RCB as the leading wicket-taker for the team. The 29-year-old achieved a remarkable tally of 19 wickets from 14 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 7.50. Additionally, in Test Cricket, he has showcased his prowess by taking 47 wickets from 33 innings. Demonstrating a commendable economy rate of 3.29. Furthermore, Siraj’s impressive performances position him to play a crucial role as a vital component of the Indian side in upcoming matches.
