Post a successful stint in the IPL representing Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav made his way to the national side at the age of 30. Ever since he has been unstoppable. In a span of 12 months, he has proved to be one of the most successful Indian T20 players actively. His consistency is the biggest positive for him and the team.

In the first T20 international against South Africa, batters struggled throughout the course of the game. The Proteas lost half their side in under 10 runs. India walked in to chase a total of 107. The Indian top order perished as well. While everybody seems to be struggling, Surya played on a different surface altogether. He scored a blistering half-century off 33 balls. His knock helped India win the game in the 17th over.

Wayne Parnell shares his thoughts on Suryakumar Yadav

South African pacer, Wayne Parnell, shared his views on the Indian batter. In a recent interview, he said that Surya is the best T20 batter among the active players around the world.

“I think personally, from what I’ve watched over the last couple of months, I think he is probably one of the best T20 batters at the moment”

Parnell further elaborated on South Africa’s disappointing performance in the first T20 international. He downplayed any concerns related to the team’s performance. Parnell reckons that the South African batters are better than what we saw in the first game. He is rest assured that the situation is not panicky as of now.

“I mean, the first T20 didn’t go according to plan. But obviously, you know, a new venue sometimes lets you not think about things that went wrong in the first game. Our betters are world-class. So it’s not something for us to panic about”

The second T20 international will take place on the 2nd of October 2022 on Sunday. The game is a must-win for the Proteas as the series is on the line. South Africa will aim for a comeback, whereas India will look to seal the series in Guwahati.
