‘I don’t think most of the Indian players pick Hasaranga’: Maharoof

Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga has been weaving his magic in every match making the batters clueless with his art of leg spin bowling. The World No. 1 spinner yet again displayed a spin bowling masterclass on a batting paradise Wanhkhede pitch giving just 22 runs in 4 overs and picking 1 wicket.

Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Fareez Mahaoof was in all praise for the Sri Lankan spinner and said that it was difficult to read the leggie. He said that most of the players were not confident facing him including Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson. He also praised Dasun Shanaka’s captaincy as he effectively used the leg spinner.

‘They cannot pick him’

“I don’t think most of the Indian players pick Hasaranga or are comfortable playing against him, unless he bowls a bad delivery. I don’t think players like Sanju Samson pick him. Even Hardik Pandya is not that confident to face him when it’s on a good length,”

said Maharoof.

“I reckon Dasun Shanaka was very smart, the way he used Hasaranga. They did their homework very well,”

he added.

Despite a brilliant effort with the ball from Hasaranga, Sri Lanka lost the match by 2 runs as India held their nerves better in a tight clash. India goes 1-0 up in the series with 2 matches still to go.
