Cricket in the USA is fast gaining ground nowadays as ICC has taken a keen interest in the country.

As per recent news, the international body has chosen some potential venues.

The venue is Oakland Coliseum which is basically a baseball stadium located in California.

The stadium can hold up to 53,000 fans which is the biggest in the USA.

Lauderdale in Florida has already acquired the status of an ODI stadium.

Other stadiums which are on the ICC’s radar are Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston and AirHogs Stadium.

Apart from this, one more venue for the mega event is Church Street Park in North Carolina.

But to use the Oakland Coliseum stadium as a cricket stadium, the ICC will have to overcome some logistical barriers.

The first problem is prime time television viewing.

India and the USA have a vast difference in time zones so it would be impossible to schedule India’s matches.

Secondly, the slot for the event has been selected for the month of June.

In the month of June, the USA gets ready for its baseball season.

Additionally, the ICC may also introduce a drop-in pitch which can replace the baseball pitch with a cricket one.

So, to make Oakland Coliseum a fully functional cricket stadium, officials will firstly allow some exhibition matches at the venue.

West Indies and the USA are the joint hosts of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
