In a recent move, the ICC has decided to let Greg Barclay continue as the undisputed President till December this year.

Earlier, there were plans to hold the elections in the month of either May or June.

ICC wants that Barclay should finish his two-year term as President of the international body.

This decision comes after several rounds of meetings in Dubai this week.

Barclay was re-elected for the second time as President in December 2020.

Barclay had run into problems with Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja 18 months back which BCCI helped to resolve.

This move allows BCCI to field an Indian candidate as the next President of the ICC.

BCCI wants that and Indian should be the ICC head when the ICC 50-over World Cup rolls into India next year.

The board has selected a few names among which Anurag Thakur’s name has gained prominence.

If the elections had taken place in May-June, then the new President would have presided over the ICC Annual Conference in July.

The BCCI would be able to finalize their candidate only by October this year.

This latest change can help things shift and change in the months to come.
