IND vs SL: 2nd T20I Post-Match Analysis

India vs Sri Lanka

It was a Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja show in the second T20I match on Saturday at Dharamsala.

Winning the toss and choosing to field first, India’s bowlers got hit for many boundaries by Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathalika and the openers were playing pretty well.

When Sri Lanka’s score reached 67, Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped Gunathalika for an LBW.

After that Sri Lanka were in a bit of a worrisome position as both Asalanka and Mishara got out in the span of 5 runs.

Skipper Dasun Shanaka smashed some mighty sixes off the Indian bowlers and remained unbeaten till the end to take his team’s score to 183/5.

India, in the second innings, were a bit shaky with the bat. Rohit Sharma especially looked uncomfortable during his short stay at the crease.

Ishan Kishan got hit on the head by a Lahiru Kumara delivery that left him quite shaken.

He ultimately got out on 16 after playing a rather loose shot.

Shreyas Iyer came in to bat at no.3 and he and Sanju Samson rebuilt India’s innings.

After the departure of Samson, Jadeja joined hands with Shreyas and together the duo took India home comfortably with 17 balls to spare. India won the match by 7 wickets.

Post Match Reaction

Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka captain said that they had the game pretty much well set up for them. He mentioned that they were a bit lax in the Powerplay. He also added they have a planned bowling map. Also added that the game was nicely set up for him to go all out and hit boundaries.

Rohit Sharma, India captain said that the Indian middle order is shaping up really well. Praised the bowlers and said that they leaked a lot of runs after the 15th over and they will look to work upon their bowling. Also added that all the players are taking responsibility and that all of them have huge amounts of talent. He also talked about if he would be making any changes to the squad in a light-hearted way and said that they would look to include players who have been sitting on the bench as they want to take care of each individual.

Next Match

India will now play Sri Lanka in the final T20I of the series on Sunday at Dharamsala, which is the 27th of February.
