India bash Australia by an inning and 132 runs in first Test

Indian National Team

Yesterday, the Men in Blue registered a huge victory over the Aussies at Nagpur in the first Test.

India started day three with Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel still at the crease. Jadeja was out rather quickly.

However, the hosts remained determined as Axar Patel and Mohammad Shami stitched together a partnership of 50 runs that took India past a 200-run lead.

India’s last wicket fell at 400 and the Australians had a huge task at hand. They needed exceptional batting to outwit India in this game.

Unfortunately, India’s spinners played havoc on the Aussie batting lineup. The spin twins Jadeja and Ashwin dismantled most of the batting lineup.

Ashwin got a fifer while Jadeja got two wickets in the second innings of Australia.

This is also Australia’s lowest Test total against India in India. The visitors had no answers to India’s lethal spin bowling.

However, despite the loss, Australia has been able to maintain its dominance in the World Test Championship points table.

On the other hand, India has also increased their win percentage and points in this table and remains in second place.

Sri Lanka can enter the WTC Final if India beats Australia in Delhi Test

Meanwhile, the Lankan lions have sniffed out an opportunity through this series.

This is because Australia lost the first Test at Nagpur but will look to get revenge in Delhi.

However, if Australia does not notch up a victory or a draw throughout the series, they will lose their top position in the points table and India will climb up.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka will also climb up the points table to face India in the final of the World Test Championship.

India has amassed a total of 11 points and now has a win percentage of 61.67 while Australia has 136 points and a win percentage of 70.83.
