India drops some, picks some players for the Australia ODIs

Indian National Cricket Team

India is going to face Australia for a three-match ODI series at home starting today.

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium is the host for today’s game between these two teams.

On the other hand, this is also a preparation for the Men in Blue for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup scheduled for October this year.

Meanwhile, India has made quite a few changes to their ODI squad as some of their players have returned back.

The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel are back in the mix of things and will be playing in this series.

Unfortunately, some of the other players have been shown the door by the selectors.

Jadeja has made a massive and incredible comeback after his knee surgery. He was brilliant in the BGT where he received the Player of the Match award twice and then adjugded Player of the Series alongside his bowling partner, R Ashwin.

Although he did not play in the T20 World Cup last year, he is all set to make his comeback to white-ball cricket through this ODI series.

KL Rahul is the next name on this list. He missed the New Zealand ODIs due to his marriage. But now, he’s back and will look to occupy the middle-order with Shubman Gill firmly fixed as the opener for India.

Moreover, Pant’s absence has also given Rahul a great opportunity to cement his place in the ODI squad.

Finally, Axar Patel is also back for India after completing his family commitments. He also was not a part of the New Zealand ODIs but is now back alongside Jadeja and Washington Sundar.

Players that India has dropped for the Australia ODIs

Meanwhile, there are three players that India has dropped from their squad ahead of the ODI series.

The first name is that of KS Bharat. He was a part of the Indian squad for the New Zealand ODIs but with KL Rahul back, the management has dropped him from the squad.

Secondly, Shahbaz Ahmed has also been shown the exit door after the reappearance of Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.

And finally, Madhya Pradesh’s 29-year-old, Rajat Patidar has also not made it to the squad because of the presence of star players. While he was in the New Zealand ODIs, he did not receive a debut.
