India make merry on Day 2 of Test match against Bangladesh

Kuldeep Yadav

Yesterday, India had a great outing in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Firstly, they piled up a huge score of 404 runs and then quickly wiped out all the batsmen of Bangladesh within a few overs.

Shubman Gill became the star yesterday as he grabbed a quick catch at short leg of Nurul Hasan off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav.

It was a completely reflex catch from Gill and he celebrated it with Virat Kohli in an animated way.

Over the years, Gill has garnered a great reputation for being an exceptional athlete as he has taken many such screaming catches right from his junior days to the Indian Premier League.

Bangladesh were 97/5 and their last batting pair of Nurul Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim were at the crease.

This catch put more pressure on the Bangla Tigers.

Bangladesh collapse after India scalps wickets at regular intervals

India’s spin and fast bowling did a better job than their Bangladeshi counterparts.

Both Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Siraj shared four wickets between them during the second session of Day 2.

Kuldeep Yadav looked all set from the word go and he dismissed skipper Shakib Al Hasan off just his second ball of his spell.

After this, Kuldeep got the prized wicket of Nurul Hasan along with some great help from Gill.

With Nurul’s dismissal, India then went on to make short work of the lower order of Bangladesh and reduced them further to 102/8.

Kuldeep also became the pick of the bowlers on Day 2 of the Test as he bagged four wickets to his name.

He also recorded his highest-ever Test score in the match which is 40 and made a great partnership with R Ashwin that was of 92 runs.

Both of them helped India cross the 400-run mark in the first innings because of which India is now in a dominant position.
