India vs West Indies 1st T20

India won the first T20I yesterday by 6 wickets and 7 balls to spare.

Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav finished things off for India as they chased down 158 with ease.

Earlier, West Indies were completely shaken by the bowling of debutant Ravi Bishnoi who took 2 wickets in a single over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Deepak Chahar too were among the wickets.

West Indies somehow managed to score 157/7 in their 20 overs.

India got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan batting brilliantly.

But, Kishan was seen struggling to the bowling of Roston Chase and soon fell to the spinner.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant too didn’t stay long at the crease.

It was now up to Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer to lead the team to the finishing line and they did so comfortably.

Yadav scored 34 off 18 while Iyer played an inning of 24 off 13.

Kieron Pollard, West Indies skipper said in the interview that they fell 20-30 runs short and suffered a lot during the Powerplay overs. He said that they will need to play well as the series progresses. He also added that they will work upon their errors. Adding further, he said that he will hope to keep his bowlers fresh and ready for the next game.

Rohit Sharma, India skipper said in the interview that they could have finished the game much sooner. He also added that bowlers did the job well restricting West Indies to 157 but batsmen could not get going. He also praised Ravi Bishnoi and said because of his ability to perform on any pitch, he was drafted into the side. Also spoke a bit about Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer. For Ishan Kishan, he said that they want to make sure he’s comfortable while batting and does not face too much pressure.

Next Match

Both sides will now face off each other at Eden Gardens, Kolkata once again tomorrow for the second T20I.
