It was a last-ball finish by the Chennai Super Kings who beat the Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets.

Chennai won the toss and decided to bowl first at Navi Mumbai.

It was a rather poor start with the bat for Mumbai Indians as Mukesh Choudhary dismissed both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan for ducks.

Even Dewald Brevis was dismissed for just 4 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma put the Mumbai Indians’ innings back on track.

Tilak Verma even scored his second fifty of the IPL and remained unbeaten till the end.

Hrithik Shokeen, Kieron Pollard and Jaydev Unadkat gave the Mumbai Indians’ score a big boost and they ended at 155/7.

Chennai Super Kings had to chase down 156 to win the game.

Mukesh Choudhary and Dwayne Bravo were the standout bowlers for CSK taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively.

In the second innings, Chennai Super Kings lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early yet again.

Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu put up a great show with the bat and ensured that Chennai Super Kings never got out of the run chase.

But the loss of a few wickets put CSK under a lot of pressure and suddenly Mumbai Indians looked in a dominant position.

It was then MS Dhoni and Dwaine Pretorius hit massive boundaries which ultimately turned the tide in favour of CSK and Mumbai Indians lost their 7th straight match.

Post Match Reactions

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians captain said that they were pretty much well into the game but MS Dhoni took it all away from them. Added that although they lost early wickets and had to play the catch-up game, they still put Chennai under pressure but Dhoni played a really good knock towards the end. Ended by saying that the pitch was very good and they could have scored more runs but in the end, it was not quite enough for them.

Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings skipper said that were very tense as the game progressed. But they were calm when MS Dhoni was on strike. Added that Dhoni still has the same touch. Mentioned that Mukesh Choudhary swings the ball well and that’s why he has been given the Powerplay overs. Also said that they have a lot of experience so they know when to perform and when to not. Ended by saying that their fielding was not good and they need to work on it.
