It was a pretty easy chase for the Delhi Capitals as they beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets.

Rishabh Pant opted to bowl first at the Wankhede Stadium.

It was a rather slow and poor start for the Kolkata Knight Riders as both Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer got out on low scores.

It was captain Shreyas Iyer who brought the KKR innings back on track along with Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh.

Kolkata Knight Riders ultimately finished off with just 146/9 on the board.

Delhi Capitals had to chase down just 147 which was an average score.

Kuldeep Yadav became the major wrecker of the Kolkata innings as he took 4 scalps.

Mustafizur Rahman too looked in fine touch and took 3 wickets.

Delhi had a slow start to their innings as well with Prithvi Shaw out the first ball.

David Warner played a superb inning of 42 runs from 26 balls.

Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel and Rovman Powell too played their parts in helping Delhi Capitals win the game successfully.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers on the KKR side as he took 3 wickets.

But his efforts were not enough as Kolkata didn’t have a defendable total at hand.

Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper said that they had a rather slow start and then they lost two wickets all of a sudden. Added that they fell a few runs short and the wicket was holding on. Mentioned that there can be no place for excuses and they need to reassess where they are going wrong. Also said that they are tinkering with their side quite a bit but have yet to find the winning combination. Also added that they need to stick around with what they have and play some fearless cricket. Mentioned that they now need to play with their heart out in the next matches. In the end, praised Umesh Yadav’s performance.

Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals skipper said that it was a rather close game but they knew that if they batted deep enough, they will get over the finish line. Was happy with the arrival of Marsh and hoped that Khaleel also makes it back soon for the team. Praised Rovman Powell and said that he is playing the finisher role well. Mentioned that they are not too worried about the points table at this stage. Wanted his players to be more active when it comes to fielding. Ended by saying that they didn’t give Kuldeep his fourth over as the ball got really wet with the dew.
