Rajasthan Royals defended their small total of 145 with ease against Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday.

Winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore sent Rajasthan Royals in to bat first.

Rajasthan Royals didn’t get the usual start that they wanted from their top order.

The middle-order tried to stitch the innings together and kept the Rajasthan Royals afloat.

It was a Riyan Parag special at the end of the first innings as he hit his maiden half-century.

Rajasthan Royals finished off with a score of 144/8.

Royal Challengers Bangalore needed 145 to win.

The stand-out performer for RCB was Faf du Plessis who scored 23.

Wickets fell too early on for RCB and they completely lost the plot in the second innings.

Kuldeep Sen stood out with the ball by taking 4/20 in 3.3 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin too looked in great form as he took 3 wickets for just 17 runs.

RCB finished off with just 115 on the board.

Post Match Reactions

Faf du Plessis, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper said that although the pitch was the same, it had a lot of inconsistent bounce. Added that 130 was a fair score but a number of dropped catches proved costly for them. Mentioned that their top 4 didn’t contribute with the bat which they should have. Ended by saying that Virat Kohli is a fantastic player and that he is going through a phase which every cricketer goes through at some point in his life and hoped that Kohli will bounce back to his original form.

Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals skipper said that it is a very great win for the team and praised Riyan Parag for his sensational batting that took the team to a respectable total. Mentioned that 150-160 would have been a better score as the pitch was two-faced and there was no dew at all. Added that he always knew that they had batting till the end and wanted his middle-order batters to step up to the competition which they did. Also mentioned that when other teams come out to chase 200 they come with only one plan, they plan to put pressure on the opposition when they come out to defend low totals like this one. Ended by saying that the team is very understanding and they are going along well.
