IPL 2022: Post Match Analysis: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have once again proved themselves high and mighty as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs.

First up, it was Sunrisers Hyderabad who won the toss and decided to bowl first.

KL Rahul led from the front for his team and smashed 68 from 50 balls. The other batsman to reach his fifty was Deepak Hooda.

Ayush Badoni stepped up once again for his team and made a quickfire 19 off 12 deliveries.

Lucknow Super Giants managed a score of 169 which was just par for the Sunrisers to chase.

In the second innings, Sunrisers batted well and looked like they were finally going to register their first win.

But, Avesh Khan kept tight control of the runs and extracted 4 wickets in the process.

Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran were the top scorers for the Sunrisers.

In the end, wickets just kept falling for the Sunrisers and they finished off at 157/9 and lost their second game.

Kane Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper said that they performed better than the last game. Said that had they broken Rahul and Hooda’s partnership early, things would have been different for them. Added that 170 was a good score to chase and they also had the firepower to do it but they just lost too many wickets. Finally praised the bowling unit and said that they did their job brilliantly.

KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants captain said that they have finally found the way to get back in the game. Mentioned that losing wickets in the Powerplay is not a good thing and added that they still need to learn how to adapt quickly to the wickets and the bowling. Also said that they don’t really plan much and said that he and de Kock try to go hard on the opposition as they have Holder in their ranks to bolster their innings at the back end. Ended by praising Deepak Hooda’s batting and said that he is practising very well in the net sessions and would grow to become a good player in the future.

Next Match

Sunrisers Hyderabad will next play Chennai Super Kings at DY Patil Stadium on the 9th of April in the afternoon game while Lucknow Super Giants will battle it out with the Delhi Capitals on the 7th of April at the same venue.
