IPL Auction: 405 players to go under hammer in Kochi

The auction for IPL 2023 is all set to take place on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi. A total of 405 players will go under the hammer in Kochi.

IPL 2023 will take place in the month of April 2023. The teams have already released their list of retained players last month. However, a lot of marquee players faced exit doors as teams decided against their retention. Hence, the upcoming auction will be an exciting ride for sure.

The auction will take place on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi. Out of the 405 players, there would be 273 Indian players and 132 international players. Also, the highest base price would be INR 2 Crores. Furthermore, the auction will begin at 2.30 PM IST.

IPL authority issues a statement

IPL released an official statement announcing the commencement date of the auction. Moreover, the statement read that after consulting with the teams, a total of 405 players were shortlisted.

“The IPL 2023 Player Auction list out with a total of 405 cricketers set to go under the hammer in Kochi on December 23rd, 2022. Initially, a total of 369 players shortlisted by 10 teams from the initial list of 991 players. Thirty Six additional players were requested by teams, which are added into the final list which makes a total of 405 players which will be presented at the IPL 2023 Auction,”

The statement further revealed the classification of 405 players into various categories.

“Out of 405 players, 273 are Indians and 132 are overseas players of which 4 players are from associate nations. The total capped players are 119, uncapped players are 282 and 4 from associate nations”

“A maximum of 87 slots are now available with up to 30 being slotted for overseas players”

“INR 2 crore is the highest reserve price with 19 overseas players choosing for slotted in the highest bracket”

“11 players are in the auction list with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal are the two Indian players in the list of 20 cricketers with a base price of INR 1 crore”
