Shivam Mavi has been India’s star in the first T20I as he had a dream debut where he picked four wickets.
Now, in today’s 2nd T20I, India may make a few changes to their playing XI and may see some players sitting out.
The bowler who may make a comeback is none other than Arshdeep Singh who has been bowling pretty well for India for one and a half years.
If Arshdeep Singh comes into the squad, then Shivam Mavi would have to sit out of this game.
But, one former India cricketer doesn’t want that to happen to a match-winner.
It is none other than Irfan Pathan and he is of the opinion that Mavi should be retained in the playing XI of the second T20I.
Says Irfan,
It will be extremely unfortunate if Shivam Mavi has to sit out after such a performance if Arshdeep comes back, because what other options do you have?
Irfan wants Mavi to be present in the playing XI of the 2nd T20I
On the other hand, Pathan is okay with either Umran Malik or Harshal Patel sitting out in place of Arshdeep Singh.
Adding further, he says,
Will you want to make Umran Malik or Harshal Patel sit out because Arshdeep is bowling exceptionally well for the last one to one-and-a-half years? So he will come back in the team as soon as he gets fit.
This year, India has chosen 7 bowling options for the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The pacers have been better in the first game as well as the spinners in the first game and will now look to seal the series today.
India stole the first T20I by 2 runs as Axar Patel defended 12 runs off the last over.
