India skipper, Rohit Sharma is getting good starts in ODI cricket but is not able to reach a century.
This has now become a worrisome condition for everyone as Rohit has not hit a century for a considerable period.
In the first ODI against New Zealand in Hyderabad, Rohit was dismissed on 34.
However, India went on to pile up a huge score of 349/8, thanks to Shubman Gill’s 208.
But, it was a close finish for India in the end as they won by a narrow margin of just 12 runs.
During a discussion on Star Sports, former India all-rounder, Irfan Pathan was asked about Rohit’s failure to convert his starts into a triple-digit score.
He played very good shots. He hit over cover on the up with a high elbow and played the pull shots-flawless batting, but when he gets out you feel he played a false shot. I will say again that the way Rohit Sharma is batting, there is no need to worry at all in white-ball cricket, especially in ODI cricket.
On the other hand, Irfan has highlighted an issue with Rohit which is his technique that he will have to change once he steps into the red-ball format.
He just has to pay a little attention to his front leg when he goes to red-ball cricket. I am sure the team management will also have their eyes on that, it is going a little too across. So it is happening because of that or the mindset.
India is soon going to face Australia in a four-match Test series at home starting 9th February.
Meanwhile, many cricket experts have stated that everyone should get some match practice by playing in the Ranji Trophy.
Irfan Pathan says that Rohit’s performance is all about mindset
Moreover, Irfan has stated that Rohit needs to change his mentality and he can do so by correcting the small technicalities that are currently affecting his game.
It is all a mindset game here because if such a big player has slight issues with his technique, he makes the adjustment and he has the ability. That is why Rohit Sharma has reached close to 10000 runs. We are talking about such a big legend, there is no need to worry.
Irfan has also commented on Rohit’s recent performances in the ODI series against Sri Lanka where he played some good innings.
I found him batting at his best in the first match (against Sri Lanka) when he scored 83 runs. In the last match also, where he scored 42 runs, he looked very good. He was himself extremely disappointed when he got out.
Additionally, Pathan has also stated that it is not a century that clouds Rohit’s mind at the moment. He is thinking of how to take the team forward and make them ready for the ODI World Cup.
