Jadeja needs to prove his fitness ahead of the first test match

India will be desperately hoping for their “Rockstar”, Ravindra Jadeja to return to the national side. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has named Jadeja in the 15-man squad of the Australia series starting from 9th February. But the inclusion of Jadeja is subject to his fitness.

The BCCI has told Jadeja to prove his fitness ahead of the first test match. BCCI has told Jadeja to play at least one domestic game ahead of the series.

“Jadeja has been asked to play at least one domestic game. If he is indeed fit then it will solve the problem of having a left-hander in the middle order and India can play five bowlers,”

a BCCI source told Times of India.

“Someone like Jadeja, in order to prove his match fitness might need to add overs to show that he can bowl 30-35 overs in an innings. They were playing Bumrah without a domestic game. Hope they don’t do that with Jaddu. The policy of playing at least one domestic game should remain mandatory like it was few years back,”

the source said.

All eyes will be on Jadeja to see whether the all rounder features in the first test or not. Jadeja adds stability to the Indian lineup. He is the only left hander in the squad who could play in the top 6. He ensures that the side does not collapse and shields the lower order from getting exposed early. His accurate bowling on turning tracks makes it difficult for any batter to cope with him.
