Punjab Kings’ batting coach, Wasim Jaffer, provided an update on the team’s overseas players’ availability for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. While Rabada is expected to be fit for their next game, there is no definite news on Livingstone. Despite the absence of both players, PBKS secured victories in their first two games against Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

Livingstone’s inclusion remains uncertain as he has not received medical clearance from the England and Wales Cricket Board. The cricketer himself, however, remains optimistic about his chances of playing soon. Jaffer discussed the availability of PBKS’s overseas players in a post-match press conference.

Jaffer said:

“Rabada will be available for the next game, but probably not Livingstone, I am not so sure. The manager probably knows it. Rabada probably will be available.”

We look for players who are in form, doing well: Jaffer

After completing his national duties, Rabada joined the PBKS squad in India. Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis replaced him as a foreign pacer and played a crucial role in their victory against Rajasthan Royals. Ellis’ 4/30 earned him the player of the match award. However, with Rabada’s return, PBKS selectors face the challenge of choosing the best XI, as both players have been instrumental in their success. Rabada is a crucial member of the squad, while Ellis has proven his worth with his excellent performance.

Jaffer further added:

“Team selection is a good headache to have, I mean players in form, playing well. It is good for the franchise, that the players are in form. It is not in my hands, but we would look for players who are in form, doing well. So, I think that is a good thing. Even though Rabada was there, Ellis showed how good he is.”
