Jodhpur likely to host few matches in IPL 2023

Indian Premier League

Jodhpur is likely to host a few matches in the Indian Premier League this year as stated by the source of BCCI. This is the first time since the pandemic that the IPL is to be hosted at home and away. Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) wants to make the most of this opportunity to popularise cricket in the state.

The BCCI team will check every aspect like the ground facilities and the pitch before giving a nod to the Rajasthan Cricket Association. Barkatullah Khan Stadium is the name of the stadium in Jodhpur.

BCCI source talks about the possibility of conducting IPL matches in Jodhpur

“It’s a verbal request. We have been told that RCA has rejuvenated the stadium, and have asked us if we can consider Jodhpur as a new venue for a few IPL games. The board will take a call on it only after the recce team submits its report,” a source in the BCCI quoted in the report.

This stadium might be the second home ground for Rajasthan Royals this season along with Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur. However, the major concern about this stadium is the short boundary size.

Legends League was held here in 2022

The stadium has a capacity of 30,000 spectators and the stadium has hosted a few first-class games. The Legends League was held at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium last year and was a massive success. So there is a high chance that the BCCI might give a green signal to the host IPL matches in Jodhpur of Rajasthan state.
