In the IPL 2023, there have been a number of top buys and picks for all 10 franchises.

The squads are more or less complete for all of them and some new faces have also joined this league.

Defending champions, Gujarat Titans have added Irishman Josh Little to their squad.

Little now becomes the first-ever Irish player to feature in the IPL and the first active Irish international player.

Little made his debut for Ireland in 2016 and has been making great progress since then.

Fans have been aware of Little’s performances since his international debut.

Even Cricket Ireland has congratulated Little for bagging a draft contract with the Gujarat Titans.

Statement from Cricket Ireland for Josh Little

We are delighted for Josh and wish him well in the IPL next year. Josh is a hard-working and dedicated athlete who has come up through the Irish system. He has been an essential part of the Irish set-up for several years now and we believe his development will only accelerate further involvement in the IPL.

Cricket Ireland has given a No Objection Certificate to Josh Little but has placed an exception that he must be available for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in May next year.

Little has also become the sixth bowler to take a hat-trick in a T20 World Cup. Little took his hat trick against New Zealand.

Previously, Little has also featured in several other franchise cricket competitions such as Lanka Premier League and The Hundred.

Moreover, he has also been given a draft contract for Pakistan Super League as well along with South Africa’s SA20.

Adds the statement,

We have carved out the three ODIs against Bangladesh at home in early May 2023 from the deal, given the potential crucial nature of those fixtures in the context of our World Cup qualification.

Message from Josh Little on his inclusion in the IPL

I’m delighted to have been signed up by the defending champions, the Gujarat Titans, and look forward to playing under Hardik Pandya within such a high quality squad. I’m also looking forward to working with coach Ashish Nehra and would like to thank the management team at the Titans for believing in me.

Adds Little,

I have loved playing international cricket for Ireland- and that will always remain my priority, but to be able to learn and play in the IPL will be an incredible opportunity and thanks to Cricket Ireland for supporting me in this.
