New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson is not too concerned about other people’s comments or not being tagged as favourites.

His team was the runner-up in last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE.

New Zealand reached the finals of the marquee event but lost to Australia. They had even made it to the finals of the ICC World Cup in 2019 only to lose it to England.

They however are the ICC World Test Champions where they beat India last year.

Williamson is of the opinion that they don’t have too much of a choice in what people call them and they just want to play good cricket.

For New Zealand, an ICC limited-overs title still remains elusive but they are Test champions nevertheless.

They recently lost the tri-series final to Pakistan recently at home.

Speaking at the captains’ press conference, Williamson said,

Yeah, I mean, we don’t really have a choice in what people call us, but for us we came here and try and focus on the cricket that we want to play and address what’s in front of us.

The Kiwis have been pretty consistent in limited-overs cricket but need to play well in ICC tournaments.

Adding further, Williamson said,

We had a pretty memorable World Cup a few months back and played these guys in the final. It was a great game of cricket, and these sorts of tournaments are always pretty special to be a part of.

New Zealand have had some favourable results since last year’s T20 World Cup.

They also have a formidable record when it comes to ICC events as they have a well-equipped side.

Before their T20 World Cup opener against Australia, the Kiwis have two warm-up games against South Africa and India.

New Zealand and Australia are going to play each other on the 22nd of October in Sydney.
