KL Rahul gets minor hand injury during practice session ahead of 2nd Test

KL

India opener and stand-in skipper, KL Rahul got hit in the hand while practicing ahead of the second Test.

Rahul, along with batting coach, Vikram Rathour was practicing some throw-downs when the injury happened.

Rathour and the doctors quickly inspected the injury and they all hope that Rahul will recover from it quickly.

However, Rathour has not confirmed whether Rahul will play in the match or not.

The batting coach confirmed Rahul’s injury in the pre-match press conference as well.

So, if Rahul misses the second game, then Indian team management will hand a debut cap to Bengal skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Easwaran has been present in the Indian Test squad many a time but has not been able to get a game.

He was once again drafted into the squad because regular skipper Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury that has ruled him out of the second Test as well.

Also, if KL Rahul becomes unavailable tomorrow, then Cheteshwar Pujara will lead the side in his absence.

Rathour’s comment on KL Rahul’s injury

It doesn’t (look serious). He seems to be fine. Hopefully, he’ll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully he’ll be okay.

The team management is in no mood to make any unforced changes to their winning playing XI.

In the first Test, Rahul returned with scores of 22 and 23 which are not too impressive for a player of his stature.

However, Rahul received great accolades for his leadership skills in the Chattogram Test where India won by 188 runs.

Additionally, when Rohit Sharma returns to the squad and Gill continues to deliver impressive performances, it can give Rahul a headache to make his name in the regular playing XI.

But as the injury is not serious, Rahul will most likely be seen playing in tomorrow’s game.
