India won a last-over thriller match against Pakistan in Melbourne four days ago.

It was Virat Kohli’s heroics and some great bowling from the Indian pace attack that allowed India to win their game against the Men in Green.

Shortly after winning the match, Kohli named his all-time favorite cricketers when asked about it.

Says Kohli,

Sachin Tendulkar and Vivian Richards.

Kohli hit six fours and four sixes in his unbeaten knock. Along with Hardik Pandya, he also made a crucial 113-run partnership.

Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf got two wickets each while Naseem Shah picked up one.

For Pakistan, Shan Masood scored 52 from 42 balls and remained unbeaten. Iftikhar Ahmed too got into the act and scored 51 from 34 balls.

On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh claimed a three-wicket haul in his maiden T20 World Cup, and Hardik also got three in the process.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami got 1-1 wicket each.

During the post-match interview, Kohli said,

It’s a surreal atmosphere, I have no words, no idea how that happened. I am really lost for words. Hardik believed we can do it, if we stayed till the end. When Shaheen bowled from the pavilion end, that’s when we decided to take him down. Haris is their prime bowler, and I hit those two sixes. The calculation was simple. Nawaz had one over to bowl, so if I could take Haris down, they would panic. From 28 in 8, it came down to 16 to 6. I tried to stick to my instincts.

Adding further, Kohli said,

The first one was back of a hand slower ball (the one over long-on). Standing here I just feel like it was meant to be. Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. The crowd has been phenomenal. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support.

India’s next take on the Netherlands and will look to keep their winning momentum going.
