Kris Srikkanth makes bold statement on Rishabh Pant’s inclusion

Yesterday, India lost to South Africa by 5 wickets in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. This is the first loss for the Men in Blue.

Rohit Sharma and Co. faltered at Perth after they started losing wickets straightaway. Had it not been for Suryakumar Yadav’s fight back, India wouldn’t also have been able to cross the 100-run mark.

In the second innings, India kept a tight hold over the Proteas but failed in the last overs of the match as the latter won the game easily.

During the second innings, India’s senior gloveman, Dinesh Karthik pulled his back and is now injured. Rishabh Pant kept wickets for the remaining five overs of the match.

Every cricket expert now wants Pant to be included in the Indian side after Karthik’s injury which will not heal anytime soon.

Dale Steyn and Kris Srikkanth are of the opinion that Pant should play India’s remaining two matches and emerge as a hero.

Says Srikkanth,

I think yes, Rishabh Pant is a potential match-winner. Pant is a kind of player, don’t expect consistency from Pant. Even in 10 innings, if he can play 3 knocks, he can win you three matches single-handedly.

Steyn also had his share of opinions and said,

That’s what he can do in a World Cup, last couple of games. Time to make a hero of himself…the resurgence of Rishabh Pant. Maybe this is the exact moment that he is waiting for.

India will face off Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday and will be looking to bounce back in the competition after their loss to South Africa.

Dinesh Karthik will most likely be ruled out of the tournament because of his back injury.
