Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja made a comment on Indian players sporting a beanie on the field during the final ODI between India and New Zealand.

India vs New Zealand white ball bilateral series was heavily hampered by rain. The entire T20 and ODI series were affected by constant rain. India won the T20 series as they sealed victory in the second T20. The first and last games did not produce any results.

The ODI series had the same fate. The hosts won the first game comfortably. Unfortunately, the next 2 matches could not go as planned as heavy rains took over. Owing to frequent rains, the mercury at the venue of the third ODI dropped significantly. The cold breeze made things more difficult. As a result, a couple of Indian players were seen sporting a beanie on the field.

“They would say he is disrespecting the cap,” Ajay Jadeja on Indian players wearing a beanie during the game

Ajay Jadeja, a former cricketer turned commentator, made a remark about Indian players wearing beanie caps on the field. Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar were seen donning black beanies at the boundary rope while fielding. The beanie had the official BCCI logo attached to it.

Ajay Jadeja feels that this generation of cricket players is lucky to have the liberty to wear such gear. If the same stunt happened a decade ago, the player would have been sacked.

“Luckily for them, they can wear a beanie. Go back 10-15 or 20 years ago, imagine if somebody from the Indian side turned up on the field with a beanie, we would never see that player again. They would say he is disrespecting the cap and things like that. I am glad to see these players wearing it,”

However, this is not the first time an Indian player has entered the field with such gear. Previously, the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya have also been seen fielding with a beanie on during a game against Ireland.
