Mark Wood will not be available for Lucknow in IPL by May-end

Mark Wood

IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants’ pacer, Mark Wood will be missing the final leg of the tournament because of the birth of his second child.

Additionally, he has not featured in the past two games for the side as well with Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq replacing him.

Moreover, in just four games, Wood has taken 11 wickets for his side and has been pretty impressive with the ball.

In his debut against the Delhi Capitals, Wood finished with figures of 5/14, and even Naveen has been pretty tight with his lengths.

Furthermore, Wood and his wife will be having their second child by the end of May and he will go home to attend the birth. However, it is unlikely that he will return to India after that.

For LSG, their next game is against Punjab Kings on the 28th of April at Mohali’s Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

After that, they will be hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings on May 1 and 3 respectively.

Wood and England to play a one-off Test against Ireland after IPL 2023

On the other hand, after IPL 2023 ends, all English players will be back on national duty as they will be playing a one-off Test against Ireland at Lord’s.

Chennai Super Kings’ batter, Ben Stokes who has been ruled out due to an injury is all set to leave the cash-rich league to prepare for this Test and the upcoming Ashes.

However, he has not given a specific return date to England as of now. Since April 3, Stokes hasn’t played a single game for CSK.

The other England players in the IPL are Joe Root and Harry Brook. Joe Root hasn’t got a chance to play for Rajasthan Royals so far in the IPL and Brook hasn’t been very impressive so far apart from a single hundred.

Finally, another high-profile English player in the squad is Jofra Archer who just made his comeback in the game against Punjab Kings.
