ICC

Along with the women nominees of the T20I Cricketer of the Year, ICC has also announced the men’s nominations for the same.

In the list are two Asian players along with an English player and a Zimbabwe player.

The two Asian names are those of India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.

Apart from this, England’s Sam Curran and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza are also gracing this elite list.

However, Pakistan’s Babar Azam has failed to make it to the list of nominations this year despite having a good outing.

SKY certainly had a good outing for India this year in the shortest format of the game. He has hit two hundreds overseas in T20Is.

The first one came in July against England and the second one was against New Zealand last month.

In the T20 World Cup this year, Surya finished as the third-highest run-scorer as he made 239 runs with a strike rate of 189.68 that includes three half-centuries.

And now he is going to finish this year as India’s highest run-scorer in the shortest format with 1164 runs in 31 matches with an awesome strike rate of 187.43.

Performances of other men’s nominees in T20Is

The second person on the list is Zimbabwe’s, Sikandar Raza. He has been exceptional for his side in this year’s T20 World Cup.

With both bat and ball, Raza has been impressive as he finishes with 735 runs with a great strike rate of 150 from 24 matches and 25 wickets with an economy of 6.13.

Raza’s best performance this year has been during the T20 World Cup against Pakistan which Zimbabwe won by a single run.

He finished with figures of 3/25 with the ball for his side.

Thirdly, England’s Sam Curran has also found a place on this list as he has been brilliant in England’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign.

He finishes the year with 67 runs and 25 wickets from 19 matches. Moreover, Curran was also given the Player of the Tournament award.

Alongside this, he has recently been bagged by the Punjab Kings for the 2023 season of the IPL at a very handsome price of INR 18.5 crores.

And finally, Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is the fourth nominee on this list.

While he did not have a stellar T20 World Cup, Rizwan did manage to become the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in this year’s Asia Cup.

He made 281 runs from 6 matches in the Asia Cup. Overall, Rizwan has 996 runs from 25 matches that includes 9 catches and three stumpings.
