Former Australia batsman, Michael Bevan believes that Australia can win and retain their T20 crown yet again this year.

Along with home advantage, Australia currently have the best T20I setup in place.

Bevan also said that Matthew Wade has been a great finisher for the Aussies.

Thus, the ex-cricketer has been backing the wicketkeeper batter for the same role.

Australia will open their campaign on the 22nd of October against runners-up New Zealand.

Says Bevan,

I think they are good enough. They have got plenty of skills floating around.

Himself a finisher during his hey-days, Bevan is all in favour of Matthew Wade.

Last year, Wade took things very coolly for his side as he smacked Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi for three sixes.

Adds Bevan,

He has had some really good innings under pressure in that role. Hopefully this will be the role that the Australian selectors see him in- there are really good signs about Matthew Wade and the Australian batting line-up with him in that position.

Bevan also commented that England and India too are strong contenders for the World Cup.

The former cricketer also said that Australia’s top three need to bring in their A-game for this tournament in order to win it.

I think the three previous keys for Australia in the past have been David Warner, Aaron Finch and Steve Smith and to a degree they have all had question marks or issues coming into this tournament surrounding them.

Finally, Bevan remarked that pacers will dominate more than spinners on the fast and bouncy pitches that Australia generally offers.

I think (spinners) will play a fair part but whoever has got the best fast bowling attacks will probably be the ones that come out on top in this World Cup.
