Mitchell Starc ruled out of SA Tour due to Groin injury

Mitchell Starc was the leading wicket taker in the Ashes for the Australian team in England. However, after the Ashes, the Australian team has not been part of any international cricket. Furthermore, Steven Smith and The Australian skipper are also not going to be part of the South Africa tour.

Mitchell Starc to miss the SA Tour

The Australian team’s Chief Selector George Bailey says that “a conservative approach” ahead of the biggest cricketing event.

“With the World Cup the priority of the squad, it was determined on advice that it was best for Steve and Mitchell to join the group in India,”. George Bailey said in a statement on Friday.

The Australia tour of South Africa starts on August 30. The tour consists of Five One Day Internationals and three T20I matches. The series is going to happen from August 20 and continue till September 17. Ths Star Aussie batter Steven Smith is to miss the tour due to a  tendon issue in his left wrist. He is advised to wear a splint.

Mitchell reported pain and soreness in the Groin after returning from the Ashes. The Ashes were retaines by the Aussies after drawing the series 2-2 in England.
