Mohammad Kaif talks about the aggressive batting approach of Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has been playing an aggressive brand of cricket since he has become the captain of the national side. The skipper has made a conscious effort to maximize the field restrictions by scoring quickly. Rohit has scored runs in the powerplay with a strike rate of 112.79 this year. Former Indian Cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that the aggressive approach of Rohit is beneficial for the side going forward. He said that this approach might help India win the 2023 World Cup.

Mohammad Kaif talks about Rohit Sharma’s aggressive batting

“The way Rohit Sharma has started as a captain, he’s trying to set that tone in the power play, stepping out and playing over point pulling the ball.

“I think he knows that if India wants to win the World Cup, he should be the aggressor in the powerplay.”

Kaif talks about the new opening pair

There was a lot of scrutiny from outside when Shubhman Gill was preferred over Ishan Kishan. But the youngster has shut all his critics by scoring consistent runs and giving quick starts to the side.

“I think both batters got similarities because they like to play the pull shots and on the back foot. The way they play square of the wicket, the fine leg, and through the cover points is fantastic to see. Appealing to the eyes, both the batsmen have got elegance.

“Both the batsmen have the capability to stay on the pitch batting for a longer time and for that reason, it is difficult to bowl against them because if you make even a small mistake these guys will punish you.”
