The biggest question surrounding IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad is to whether retain their skipper Kane Williamson or not.

If they decide to retain him, then they would have to pay 14 crore rupees to him but somehow Williamson has lost his luster in the SRH setup.

All franchises have submitted their traded and retained players list yesterday as per the deadline given by the BCCI.

The mini-auction will take place in December this year at Kochi.

Former SRH head coach, Tom Moody has given his opinion on how SRH should take action on retaining Kane Williamson for the next season of the IPL.

It’s an interesting one for the SunRisers, because when you commit at the beginning of a big auction to retain a player of the caliber of Kane Williamson at 14 crores, you would think that they are thinking about the long term. They’re thinking about the bigger picture. But clearly, he’s had a disastrous campaign in the last four months in T20 cricket, certainly not up to his standards.

Kane Williamson is struggling in the shortest format of the game for New Zealand as well as SunRisers Hyderabad.

During the IPL, Williamson remained outside the team for the most part because of his elbow inury.

Moody even gave due credit to Williamson as a great captain in world cricket, but feels that 14 crore rupees is still a large sum of money for a player who has not been performing well.

We know his quality as a leader. He’s a highly respected leader in the IPL and globally. So, it just depends on how much weight they put on that leadership. So, whether they release him or not. To me, 14 crores is a lot of money.
