Most expensive Indian uncapped players at IPL 2023 auction

IPL 2023 auction took place on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi. 10 teams assembled and took part in a day long shopping spree.

IPL 2023 auction registered a few record breaking buys. Sam Curran became the most expensive player in the history of IPL. He was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 18.50 Cr. Furthermore, Cameron Green and Ben Stokes went for a whopping amount of INR 17.50 Cr and INR 16.25 Cr respectively. The overseas players, as usual, dominated the auction.

However, a few Indian players too bagged the eyeballs of the franchise. Former skipper of the Punjab Kings, Mayank Agarwal was the highest paid Indian player at the IPL 2023 auction table. SRH bought the opener for INR 8.25 Cr. Furthermore, the uncapped Indian players also grabbed expensive contracts with the franchise.

List of expensive uncapped players at the IPL 2023 auction

Shivam Mavi became the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL 2023 auction. Mavi entered the auction with a base price of just INR 40 Lakhs. However, a total of 4 different franchises engaged in a bidding war for the pacer. In the end, the defending champions, Gujarat Titans, emerged victorious and signed the pacer for INR 6 Cr.

The second on the list is a pacer, Mukesh Kumar. Kumar is a pacer hailing from Bengal. Mukesh rose to fame after he received his maiden India call-up for the Bangladesh test series. Delhi, Chennai, and Punjab took part in the bidding war but DC won with the highest bid of INR 5.50 Cr.

Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder, Vivrant Sharma was a surprise pick at the auction table. Vivrant rescued his home team with a match winning innings of 157 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. That inning impressed the SRH scouts, and they got the youngster for a whopping amount of INR 2.6 Cr. Vivrant will join his fellow J&K peers, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, in the SRH squad.

Punjab batter, Mayank Dagar, and Andhra wicketkeeper, KS Bharat received contracts of INR 1.8 Cr and INR 1.2 Cr respectively. Mayank Dagar made news when his yo-yo test score surpassed that of Virat Kohli. Hence, SRH decided to bring the young lad on board. Whereas, Gujarat Titans bought Bharat to bring in an extra wicketkeeper to the unit.
