Former India and now CSK skipper, MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the reins of captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja.

In a press release by the franchise, it was stated that MS Dhoni will remain as a player of CSK but will not captain the side. Ravindra Jadeja will be leading the team and has been an integral part of the franchise since 2012.

Chennai Super Kings have been fortunate to have Dhoni as skipper since its inception in 2008. Many wishes poured in for the now ex-skipper after the decision.

Even in the national set-up, Dhoni has been India’s most formidable and successful captain.

In the IPL, under Dhoni’s leadership, CSK have won 121 matches out of a total of 204.

Chennai Super Kings have won the title 4 times, in 2010, 2011, 2018 and most recently, 2021.

They were runners-up in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.

Jadeja is only the third player to lead the franchise. Suresh Raina too captained the side in 2012 against Yorkshire in the Champions League in South Africa.

If we talk about Jadeja’s stats, he has been successful for CSK in both 2020 and 2021 editions, amassing 232 and 227 runs with 19 wickets in both seasons.
