Nicholas Pooran dedicates his performance to family

Nicholas Pooran

IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants’ keeper-batter, Nicholas Pooran has dedicated his recent knock to his wife and newborn baby.

Recently, Lucknow Super Giants snatched a thrilling victory from Royal Challengers Bangalore on the last ball with one wicket to spare.

Earlier, skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis put up a partnership of 76 runs for the 4th wicket. After them, it was Pooran and Ayush Badoni who put up another 84-run stand for their franchise.

Additionally, Pooran was also awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his amazing performance against RCB.

Moreover, Pooran has also credited KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis for putting LSG in the game with their partnership.

I want to dedicate this performance to my wife and newborn. We knew that the game was on, Stoinis and KL had a wonderful partnership. Stoinis kept us in the game and I knew this was a nice wicket. We could chase even over 50 in the last four, it was about cashing in. The second ball I came in and smashed a six. It is not about getting a look in, if it is in my slot then I will smash it for a six.

On the other hand, Pooran stated that over the past few years, he has taken the burden of finishing games.

Therefore, while he does want to finish games for his side, at the same time he also wants to enjoy his cricket.

Over the past couple of years, I have put a lot of pressure on myself to finish games. Today also I wanted to finish the game but got out in the end. I hope this is the season for me, in a good space and state of mind. I just want to enjoy my cricket, play with a smile and entertain, and win games for my team.

Pooran, Stoinis, and Rahul shine for LSG against RCB

Coming back to the game, RCB scored 212 runs in the first innings after being put into bat by LSG.

There were contributions from skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell who all notched up fifties.

For LSG, the wicket-takers were Amit Mishra and Mark Wood.

However, the start that LSG got was quite horrible as they were 23/3 in just four overs. But, some remarkable batting from KL Rahul, Stoinis, and Pooran made things easier for their side.

In the final over, LSG needed 5 runs from 6 balls, and Harshal Patel gave a single off the first ball and then got a wicket on ball two.

Moreover, in the third and fourth balls, a single and double were taken by LSG after which Unadkat was dismissed on the fifth ball.

The equation was one from-one ball and Harshal Patel decided to run out Ravi Bishnoi but failed which gave LSG a great win over RCB.
