In his IPL debut, Suyash Sharma played a key role in the win, taking three wickets and impressing JioCinema IPL expert Parthiv Patel. Patel praised the 19-year-old’s confidence and performance under the pressure of playing in his first IPL match at the iconic Eden Gardens.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put up an impressive display to beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 81 runs at the Eden Gardens. Batting first, KKR scored 204 runs, with Shardul Thakur smashing a rapid 68 off 29 balls and Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributing 57 runs.

RCB started strong, but when KKR introduced their spinners, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma, the match turned in their favor. They took nine wickets between them, and RCB were all out for 123.

“He left an impact based on how he was bowling. We have seen him at the U-25 for Delhi, the way he bowls. As Nitish (Rana) said, he is a different kind of leg-spinner. He goes more towards a googly, but he has pace as well. We can see his confidence especially when he’s asking for a DRS call with the captain. You can see he has a lot of self-belief. He has played U-25 but hasn’t played first class cricket, neither played Mushtaq Ali nor Vijay Hazare, and the fact that he could perform like this in front of 70,000 people is extremely praiseworthy. It’s very hard to perform under pressure,”

It definitely hurt to watch RCB lose: Parthiv

KKR secured an 81-run victory against RCB at the Eden Gardens. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started well but were bowled in back-to-back overs by Narine and Chakaravarthy respectively. Suresh Raina praised Chakaravarthy’s accuracy, pace and fitness post his injury return. JioCinema IPL expert Parthiv Patel, who was supporting RCB, praised KKR’s deserved win and their comeback after RCB’s early domination. He credited the KKR spinners and blamed RCB’s shot selection for the loss.
