Parthiv Patel feels India’s top-order needs to contribute in the 4th Test

Former India wicketkeeper batter, Parthiv Patel has commented recently that India’s lower order cannot bail them out again and again.

In the opening two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, it was India’s lower-middle and lower-order batsmen who played well to ensure that India remained in the game.

However, in the third Test at Indore, India suffered defeat as they were never in the game.

The result turned out to be in the favour of the Aussies who beat India by 9 wickets yesterday.

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara was the top-scorer for India in the 2nd innings with 59 runs.

Therefore, Patel feels that India’s top 4 batsmen will have to contribute in the 4th and final Test.

India will be expecting that their star-studded batting order can score runs in the fourth and final Test of the series in Ahmedabad. I always believe that one of your top 4 batters has to play a long innings, even if the pitch conditions are like they were. You have to apply yourself and play a long innings. Cheteshwar Pujara is the only one who scored 59 and apart from him, no one contributed much.

Adding further, Patel says,

You can’t put pressure on your lower order to get you runs all the time. We can’t expect the lower order to bail India out again and again. That is why India would expect their top order to score runs in Ahmedabad.

Patel praised both Pant and KS Bharat; says India missing Pant’s presence

Meanwhile, the former India keeper-batter said that Rishabh Pant has been a major part of India’s Test squad.

However, since his accident last year, his presence is being felt by one and all.

Moreover, Patel has also praised KS Bharat for his keeping skills.

Rishabh Pant is definitely being missed with the way he was batting and keeping for India in Test cricket. But KS Bharat also deserves to be playing for India. He has been on tours around the world in the last 4-5 years with India A and has scored a lot of runs, be it home or away. Even though he has not scored a lot of runs in this series but his wicket-keeping has been very good, even on such wickets.

Additionally, Patel has also stated that it is completely wrong to blame Bharat for the loss at Indore.

It would be wrong to blame KS Bharat for our loss in Indore, saying that we lost because he did not score runs is incorrect.
